  About San Francisco Senatus
          Legion of Mary Members are working world wide, to bring Jesus and Mary to the people in every country.
          The San Francisco Senatus works under the guidance of the Legion Concilium, whose home is in Dublin, Ireland.
          The Senatus comprises the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah,
           and the Northern Parts of California and Nevada.

The Legion of Mary has been present out West for many decades, and there are now hundreds of Praesidia, with the oldest now seventy years old. The first Praesidia in San Francisco was formed in September of 1933, in St. Monica Parish. Originally, all of the councils in the maps above were part of the Los Angeles Senatus, or directly attached to Concilium. As California and all the Western States have grown in population, the need for another Senatus became apparent. Accordingly, in September 2003, Concilium proposed that the San Francisco Comitium (formed in 1941), be raised to Senatus level. In January, 2004, the first organizational meeting was held, with Fr. Lawrence Goode as the Spiritual Director. The first Official Senatus Meeting was held on March 11, 2004, at St. Finn Barr's Church, and the first officers were Br. Raymond Frost, President, Br. David Marten, Vice President, Sr. Tessie Velicaria, Secretary, and Br. Vic Davo, Treasurer.
