Allocutio (April, 2011) "In the handbook there is a quote from the Second Vatican Council, regarding the universal call to holiness. Frank Duff wrote “Can We Be Saints” and included this idea in the founding of the Legion of Mary, and so the Legion has anticipated this universal call to holiness... Before the Council, for those called to holiness, the church thought only in terms of religious orders and priests. St. Therese, the Little Flower, and Edel Quinn as well, influenced Frank Duff. St. Therese died at the end of the 19th century, and became known through her autobiography, written under obedience. Anybody can do what she did. Has anyone received a rose from St. Therese? I have, twice, once while reading her autobiography, and once on her feast day... St. Louis De Montfort solidified the idea that lay people can be holy... |
