Allocutio (March, 2011) "The master/apprentice system has a final product – the skilled craftsman. How many consider ourselves to be skilled craftsmen proficient in the work at hand? Do we prepare new members well? The temptation is to hide behind material and not engage in conversation. The purpose of council programs is to train people in the work. When I went to Dublin for workshops, their emphasis was on door to door evangelization. Legion workshops teach us how to properly evangelize, and without them, we weren’t preparing people to be skilled craftsmen. When people learn to be skilled craftsmen they won’t leave the Legion – they will get other people. We need to be humming with activity... About the upcoming Rosary Rally: (to be held in San Francisco Civic Center, in October)- there should be a promotion of the Family Rosary before the event, including a campaign of prayer at rest homes and hospitals. In 1961 cards were given to people to make a commitment to pray before and after the event... Also, there is an upcoming web site, still in preparation, www.familyrosarycrusade2011.com which will give news about the Rosary Rally... In the San Jose Comitium there is a Vietnamese curia with 22 praesidia, which is a resource for us in San Francisco, for Vietnamese Literature and information... There is a feast coming up that is almost as big as Christmas or Easter - St. Patrick’s Day. Ask St. Patrick for help in what we’re doing. He is from where the Legion came from... Where to get help: We should follow the example of our deceased Legionaries, such as Br. Dante DiGrande, who would pray the rosary before he painted houses. Also, ask the intercession of deceased legionaries such as Agnes Cassidy, Ellen McSweeney and Sophie Delgado. (All once Legionaries at St. Paul's in San Francisco)...Ask for help, and beg the intercession of those deceased Legionaries from your own Praesidia. All from Jesus -- but we also have all these intercessors, the Saints, like Saint Patrick, and also, all of our Legionaries, now with the Lord - the Legion Founders, and also those Legionaries from our own councils." Fr. Goode gave his blessing to all Legionaries |
