| San Francisco Senatus of the Legion of Mary |
Allocutio (May, 2010) Given by Br. David Marten, Senatus President "Our meeting tonight is on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima , May 13th, which commemorates the first apparition of Our Lady to the three children, Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta. Today is also a day traditionally dedicated to the Ascension of Our Lord, but which will be celebrated on Sunday. The Blessed Mother asked the children to say the Rosary and bear their sufferings, because many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray for them. Mary asked Lucy to help establish devotion to her Immaculate Heart, including the practice of the Five First Saturdays, on which days atonement should be made for the sins of the world. Our Lady said: "I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the First Saturday of five successive months, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary.” Each thirteenth of the month from May to October, Our Lady appeared to an ever growing crowd of people, except in August when the children were imprisoned by the Mayor. In October 70,000 people were present, and Our Lady identified herself as the Lady of the Rosary. There was a miracle of the sun, in which three things happened in 12 minutes: the spinning of the sun, movement and color. The miracle was reported in the international media. St. Joseph also appeared, as well as Mary as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Francesco and Jacinta died at a young age, but Lucy lived on to become a nun and continued to receive visits from Our Lady. In 1927 she received a vision of hell, and predicted increased persecution and martyrdom of the church. Mary requested that Lucy spread devotion to the Immaculate Heart, and asked for Consecration to the Immaculate Heart, and for reparation of sins. Lucy died on February 13th, 2005, at the age of 97. Pope Pius XII, Paul VI and John Paul II consecrated the world, and especially Russia, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary." |
